"Anyone who thinks that the Bible is truth AND believes that sex before marraige is ok has to be smoking crack."

Any thoughts?

Absolute truth or a guideline?
Its the ones that believe its Absolute that are probably on the good stuff (the crack I mean).

Anyone who believes that the Bible is truth - untainted, unchangable truth - is completely mad. The bible contradicts itself so often, that they would have to be mad. It contains the changing traditions and history of the people of Israel. It is a guideline for a society that no longer even exists. You are not supposed to follow every passage to the letter....and if you choose to do so - for the sake of ahh... your soul, learn Hebrew.

What the above person said. It's impossible to believe the whole Bible literally unless you're happy to accept that your God is schizophrenic. It contradicts itself all over the damn place. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John? They don't agree with each other. It also boggles my mind to imagine that there are people who believe that a text can go through 1700 years (the Bible wasn't compiled until the 3rd century CE) of reproduction and translation unchanging. The Bible is a series of texts put together by a Council. The texts that depict the life of Jesus weren't even written in Jesus' time.

Not to mention that the early Christians were a fringe cult who thought that the Apocalypse was going to happen in their lifetimes. The Bible wasn't meant to be followed nearly two millenia later, because we're not even meant to be there.

And anybody who claims to take the Bible literally and also wears polyester is going to Hell for sure.

"Anyone who thinks that the Bible is truth AND believes that sex before marraige is ok has to be smoking crack."

This sentence can be shortened to:

"Anyone who thinks that the Bible is truth has to be smoking crack."

There's a difference between truth, and literal.

As for the sex thing - you can readily resolve this conflict by replacing 'sex' with 'unprotected sex'.
