I swear word limits on course assignments are being dropped.
In my first year, my essays were generally 1,500 or 1,800 words. Second year was generally 2,000-2,500, and third year 3,000 words and up.
This semester, my third year essays are 2,500 words. My second year paper's essay is 2000 words, and we got told that 1800 would be preferable, and that they'll be dropping it to 1500 next year.
I'm finding it irritating. We're still expected to go into more detail, but they keep cutting the word limits. I wonder if it has anything to do with staff cuts/lack of tutors to help with marking.
Also, I have my second 300 level essay due in on the 4th of June, and we still haven't got our first essays, which were handed in four or five weeks ago, back yet. This is pissing me off. Without having any idea on how we did in our first essays, we're meant to write the second one. Especially at this level, I think using feedback on previous essays to improve is pretty vital, and it's pissing me off.
End of bitch.
